Amazonite is a green-to-blue-green variety of microcline feldspar, its color caused by trace lead and water content within the crystal structure.
Where It Comes From
Despite its name, amazonite isn't found in significant quantities near the Amazon River. Major sources today are Colorado in the United States, Madagascar, and Russia.
